First Night Of 24/7 Does Not Disappoint
Saturday, December 14, 2013 at 10:57PM
Cait in 24/7 coverage, Detroit Red Wings, Hockey, Hockey, Hockey News, Opinion, Toronto Maple Leafs, david clarkson is a joke, dion phaneuf has bow ties, hbo, how is phil kessel an athlete, jimmy howard is not into philosophy, randy carlyle doesn't like toasters, winter classic

8 take aways from the 1st episode of the newest edition of 24/7- Toronto Maple Leafs/Detroit Red Wings (possible spoilers, but really who can do this show justice with only words?):

1.) The Red Wings locker room seems like such an inspiring space.  And one that I’d love to be in for the starting line up.

2.) Are they trying to portray Dion Phaneuf as a less abrasive version of Sean Avery with the focus on his fashion?  Zoom in on his closet, holy crap, who needs that many bow ties?  And I could have gone without seeing in his underwear.

3.) No wonder Joffrey Lupul DM’d women for sweater yam photos, he’s ability to articulate his thoughts is non-existent.  I forgot what his point was (giving up 3 goals in 10 minutes in Game 7 against the Bruins) by the time he got the words out.

4.) Daniel Alfredsson- Best Butt of Series, but it’s negated by the socks and Birkenstock’s.  Seriously, stop with the sandals/socks.  Pick one or the other.  That’s up there with booty shorts and Ugg boots.  If it’s cold enough for one, it’s too cold for the other.

5.) David Clarkson has floofy hair.  Watching it wave in the breeze as he skates is about the only thing I can say positive about him.

6.) Holy crap can Mike Babcock come be my life coach?  Like seriously, what a buttkicker he is in the show. I’m shocked the Red Wings haven’t won a Cup since 2008 with all that positive, expecting attitude.

7.) Randy Carlyle vs The Toaster: Toaster- 1 Randy- 0

8.) I can’t tell if Jimmy Howard is visualizing shots on him or in the middle of a drum solo.  And he’s less deep than previous goalies, but much more interesting to listen to as he talks hockey.

The second night of 24/7 is December 21st at 10pm
