Trade Deadline Insanity Annoys Me

I guess it's time for someone on this site to acknowledge the insanity that is this impending Trade Deadline (February 27th in case you've amnesia).  So with that, I give you my thoughts and opinions on the past few trades and rumors that are swirling about the NHL.

But first a little WTF break....

So the first trade is the triangle one between the Colorado Avalanche, Tampa Bay Lightning, and Detriot Red Wings.  I swear when I first saw this trade, I needed a map to track everything.

Going to Tampa Bay was Kyle Quincey from Colorado.  Colorado received Steve Downie from them.  However Quincey will not have a chance to wear Bolt colors because he was shipped off to Detroit in exchange for Sebastien Piche and a first-round draft pick in 2012.  Got that? Good.  Because that wasn't the only move for Tampa today.  In addition to Colorado and Detroit, they made a trade with the Chicago Blackhawks.  Chicago sent Brandon Segal to Tampa in return for Matt Fornataro.

Outside of that confusion, it's been fairly mellow in the trades, granted we are still 6 days out from the deadline, which means there's insanity still to come.   Honestly, I can't wait for the 28th, not that I don't love the insanity and the possibility of a revived team, but it's more just ridiculousness of it all.

Half my Twitter timeline last night died when the Ales Hemsky rumor took flight and was RT'd by more reputable hockey personalities.

Tuomo Ruutu is being shopped around by the Carolina Hurricanes supposidly, despite the fact he's out indefinitely for an upper body injury.

You have the previously mentioned Hemsky rumored to be joining just about every team in the NHL for some of the most ridiculous returns ever.

There's that Weiner Tucker guy out in Columbus who's going to be playing for 5 teams, some times playing back to back games or the 1st period of one, 2nd for another team, and 3rd elsewhere.

Going back a few weeks, Anaheim Ducks were having a fire sale, looking to ship out everyone for any decent offers.

Evgeni Nabokov is rumored to be leaving the Island, in return for what?  A new location for the Islanders to play at?  Someone who can play at the NHL level?

Dustin Penner is looking to be moved about supposedly, hopefully he's headed to a place where IHOPs don't exist and Weight Watchers is around the corner.

And you can keep going down the line.  I don't get it, why are people getting hyped up for things that probably won't happen?  At the end of the day I click on to the TSN transactions page and check to see what really did happen.  Because as we all know, at the end of the day, it doesn't count unless Bob McKenzie says so.
